Homemade Saline-Xylitol Solution

for overcoming sinus congestion, especially due to colds and flu

  • 8 oz. distilled water
  • ½ t. of xylitol (sourced from birch rather than potentially GMO contaminated corn)
  • ½ t. of unrefined Himalyan or Celtic sea salt

Mix ingredients together together until dissolved.  Put in small spray bottle to administer as a nasal spray, or use in neti pot as a nasal rinse. Administer two sprays 3 to 4 times a day during cold or flu. To administer spray, lean over sink, hold one nostril while inhaling and spraying into other nostril. Or use as a rinse 2-3 times a day using standard neti pot protocols.

I have been using this twice per day for a few months, and it is so helpful for my nose and sinuses. I no longer have to use the neti pot. Thank you!

  2. Thanks – forgot the proportions and this was just what I needed.
